CHRIST CHURCH PADGATE

Christ Church School received a double accolade before Christmas having been judged "outstanding” in inspections by both OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education) and SIAS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools).
OFSTED
The duties of OFSTED are wide ranging.
· They scrutinise school policies and records relating to pupil educational tracking, child protection and safety in particular, as well as many other administrational documents.
· They sit in on lessons to judge the quality of teaching and pupil response, talking to pupils.
· In-depth questions are put to senior staff and governors regarding general school organisation and especially child safety, curriculum structure and development, records relating to educational progress, monitoring and direction for each pupil.
· School facilities and the value for money of commissioned services are assessed, along with the overall ambience and pupil behaviour.
· All of the above are used to focus their judgements on leadership and management.
· A questionnaire is sent out to all parents/carers soliciting comments about their children’s education and their perception of the school.
Here are some quotes from the report:
"This is an outstanding school - it has maintained high standards of achievement over recent years and there is no sign of complacency".
"Team work is strong and the school benefits from a thorough and detailed system of tracking pupils' progress".
"Behaviour is excellent, pupils are considerate and welcoming".
"Many aspects of provision, including teaching, are outstanding".
Children's comments were very positive, such as:
"The school is always safe, I have never felt worried here".
"The teachers are always helpful, any problems are quickly sorted out".
"I love my school".
Parents and carers were equally positive:-
"We are very pleased how our children have settled in since the move from the other school" (Longbarn).
"Very good leadership and strong ethos".
SIAS
The inspector looked at the general Christian ethos and symbolism in the school, the RE curriculum and the effectiveness of in-school worship and prayer. She considered the strength of leadership by the staff, Rector and governors, and also how the children themselves had been involved in developing attractive forms of worship, probing their understanding of Jesus' teaching and the Christian way of life.
Again to quote from the official report:
"The distinctiveness and effectiveness of Christ Church as a Church of England school are outstanding. There is an overwhelming sense of God's presence permeating every aspect of school life making this school a special place. The school's clear vision and drive ensures that everything done is rooted in Christian principles. This is a school family that demonstrates God's love through words and actions.”
Particular strengths were:
"The school's Christian ethos encompasses all aspects of school and community, life".
"The excellent quality of relationships that exist at every level of school life".
"The outstanding and enthusiastic leadership of the head with excellent support from the staff, governors and church leaders".
"The variety of worship that gives children, staff and parents a wide experience of worshipping God".
Invitation to a celebration
On 1 March in mid-morning the Bishop of Warrington is visiting the school to present the recently earned Parish-School Partnership Award, when we will celebrate this as well as the above achievements. Church members are invited to come and join this very happy occasion! If you wish to do so, it is essential to contact the school in advance on 01925 492422.
We are very thankful for the dedication of and the huge amount of work done by the school staff (at all levels!) and they fully deserve our whole-hearted support.

Fantastic news
You may remember from the last magazine that the children were having a sponsorship event to raise money for SmileTrain. This is a charity working in developing countries giving children a chance of an operation to repair cleft lips and palates. Many children without this operation face a life being unable to eat or speak properly, are taunted and teased, not allowed to attend school or get a job. The average child applying for an operation belongs to a family living on less than 60p a day with no chance of raising enough money to cover the cost.
With lots of support from families and friends, the children collected an incredible £2000. This money will give thirteen children the chance to live a normal way of life with family and friends. Many thanks to everyone who helped achieve this fantastic amount proving that we have OUTSTANDING children in an OUTSTANDING School.

CLASS EUCHARIST AT CHRIST CHURCH SCHOOL
For some time we have been holding Class Eucharists in school. There are open to all parents and relatives and friends of the class that is attending the service. Members of our congregation also are very welcome and this provides another good opportunity for the church be more involved in the life of the school.
The Eucharist is usually held on every alternate Wednesday at 9.30 am in the middle area of the Infants section. Do come and support the children – you will be made very welcome. Usually the service is advertised in the weekly bulletin.
