OUR RECTOR

Revd. Canon Stephen Attwater

Rev'd. Canon Stephen Attwater is the son of a Methodist Minister, and was educated at Kingswood  School, Bath. He worked in the clothing industry until Ordination at the age of 40 in 1987. Trained at Lincoln Theological College, he served his curacy from 1987 - 1990 at St. Elphin, Warrington.  He was Vicar of St Thomas'  St.Helens 1990 -1999, and has been Rector of Christ Church, Padgate since 1999.

Stephen was made Area Dean of Warrington in 2005 and also an Hon. Canon of Liverpool Cathedral. He is an assistant vocations advisor and also a member of Bishop’s council and Bishop’s nominee on the Council of USPG.

Stephen has two sons, Richard and Christopher from his first marriage, and married his wife Denise in 2006 who also has a son  Philip .

He had been a Church organist since the age of 15, until training for Ordination, and is an Associate of London College of Music in organ performance, with continued interest in Pipe Organ Design and French Organ Music. His other interests include - Music in general, Hill walking, Travel, the sinking of the Titanic, Rugby League, and Real Ale!
