Standing Committee The role of the Standing Committee is to take urgent decisions on behalf of the Parochial Church Council, for example when there is no time to contact each member of the Parochial Church Council individually. It will also consider and make proposals to the full committee on the strategic mission, aims and policies of the Church. It will review specific ministry and mission programmes and will draft responses to Deanery, Diocesan and other external partners. Membership is drawn entirely from the Parochial Church Council. Finance Committee The Finance Committee is charged with providing oversight, guidance and recommendations on all aspects of the Church’s finances. Membership includes the Treasurer, two other Parochial Church Council members and one other person connected with Church finances but who is not a member of the Parochial Church Council. Social Committee The role of this group is to plan and develop the social life of the Church. There are six places on the Committee, three for Parochial Church Council members and three for other members of the congregation. This is the first time in many years that the Parochial Church Council has appointed sub-committees, but we believe they will help the Parochial Church Council by providing focus and expertise, thereby making the Parochial Church Council more effective.
ADVICE TO NEWCOMERS (with acknowledgement to Grasmere Methodist Church) If, after church, you wait awhile, someone may greet you with a smile But if you quickly rise and flee we'll all seem cold and stiff maybe The one beside you in the pew is, perhaps, a stranger too. All here, like you, have fears and cares, all of us need each other's prayers, In fellowship we bid you meet with us around God's Mercy Seat.
